Talisker Port Ruighe

20130705-090323

Pronounced Portree, the main town on Skye where Talisker hails from, perched precariously on top of the ocean, this whisky is double matured in Port casks and is an interesting addition to the Talisker range.

Deep red amber colour it has a nose of the sea and the peat with a caramel sweetness. A rich palate well rounded with notes of pepper, and vanilla sweetness from the double matured barrels leads to a finish which is long and smoky. I found that water really opens up the sweetness.

Bottled at Talisker’s usual 45.8% with no age statement.
