In recent weeks more and more stories surface about the level of infection in factory farmed meat. Hot on the back of the horse meat scandal it’s understandable why so many people are turning to organic produce which has guaranteed animal welfare, is better for the environment. With this in mind I was delighted to be asked by Organic Trade Board to cook and serve an organic breakfast as part of #wakeuptoorganic. Retailers and eateries all over the country gave out organic breakfasts to raise awareness of the value of a healthy organic start to the day. So while I was serving porridge with spiced rhubarb compote in Wholefoods Market in Giffnock alongside Fi with her organic green smoothie shots, Laura Scott was handing out organic granola sunshine smoothies in As Nature Intended in Shoreditch. With Elly Curshen in Bristol and Cathryn Scott in Cardiff and many others up and down the length and breadth of Britain, the country was well covered by those passionate about fair and ethical food. If you didn’t get yours why not try one of the recipes and wake up to organic to start your day.
